Renault unveils hydrogen-powered prototype SUV in race to cleaner driving -Breaking

Renault The French carmaker is trying to get ahead of its competitors in cleaner driving by unveiling a prototype hydrogen fuel-cell-powered sports utility vehicle (SUV).
Renault claimed that the car was called the ‘Scenic Vision,’ and would not be available commercially before 2030-2032. The market will see a fully electric version in 2024.
Fuel cell vehicles have an electric motor that is similar to an electric car, however, the fuel cell motor uses electricity generated from hydrogen. This increases the vehicle’s range.
Renault claims that a 16kW fuel cell can extend the vehicle’s range up to 800km and will make the carbon footprint 75% smaller than a traditional electric model.
Renault continues to push forward with its plans for a split of its combustion engine and electric car businesses.
Renault, a leader in electric vehicles with Japan’s Nissan (OTC 🙂 and Mitsubishi at beginning of last decade, has been overtaken by Tesla (NASDAQ 🙂 as well as the ambitious goals of Volkswagen (ETR :).
Asian carmakers Toyota, Hyundai and Hyundai have already launched hydrogen-powered cars. BMW plans to introduce the hydrogen iX5 in a limited series this year.
