(Reuters) – WhatsApp has introduced free cloud-based APIs in a push for more businesses to use it, Meta Platforms CEO Mark Zuckerberg revealed at the company’s Thursday messaging event.
Meta, Facebook’s owner of the messaging service, launched more features that are business-oriented and has been increasingly attractive to business users.
At Meta’s “Conversations”, Zuckerberg stated that the new offering will allow any business or developer to easily access our service and build directly on WhatsApp. This would customize WhatsApp for their customers, speed up their responses time, and increase their customer satisfaction.
WhatsApp has an API (or type of interface software) that allows businesses to connect with their system. This generates revenue.
Meta purchased WhatsApp for $19Billion in an historic 2014 deal.
