Investing.com – India stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

NSE closed with the gain of 2.89% while index gains of 2.91%.

The best performers of the session on the were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:), which rose 8.13% or 319.65 points to trade at 4,249.10 at the close. Meanwhile, Reliance Industries Ltd (NS) gained 5.83%, or 144.60 point to reach 2,624.45 JSW Steel Late trade saw Ltd (NS) rise 5.15%, or 30.90 point to 631.10

These were the worst performers of the session. Shree Cements Ltd. (NS) fell by 0.97%, or 215.15 point to close at 22,001.20. UPL Ltd., NS: fell 0.71% (or 5.75 points) to finish at 808.25. Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. was up 0.53% (or 1.20 points) to 229.50.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which rose 8.10% to 4,246.30, Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:) which was up 5.77% to settle at 2,622.15 and Nestle India Ltd (BO:) which gained 4.74% to close at 16,863.85.

Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd.(BO:), which rose 0.24% to 229.05 in late-trade, Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.. (BO;) gained 0.71% and settled at 329.90.90. NTPC Ltd. (BO.) saw an increase of 0.91% to 149.50.

The India National Stock Exchange saw rising stocks surpass declining stocks by 1530, 318, 32 and 32 respectively. However, the Bombay Stock Exchange witnessed 2425 rise and 813 decline, with 114 remaining unchanged.

The implied volatility index of Nifty 50 options was lower by 5.94%, to 23.10.

The June delivery of Gold Futures was up 0.8%, or 1.40, to $1.842.60 per troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil delivery for July increased 0.10%, or 0.11, to reach $110.00 per barrel. The July Brent oil contract increased 0.30%, or 0.34, to trade at $112.38/barrel.

USD/INR increased 0.16% to 77.56, while EUR/INR rose 0.2% to 82.13.
