ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE (Reuters – U.S. president Joe Biden might talk with Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping within the coming weeks. This was stated by Jake Sullivan aboard Air Force One, Thursday.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if, in the coming weeks, President Biden and President Xi speak again,” he said.

On Wednesday, Sullivan met Yang Jiechi who is Xi’s key foreign policy advisor. He said he was open with Yang about his concerns regarding North Korea’s missile and nuclear activities, as well as China’s view of this matter.

“It’s not in America’s interests, and that China should contemplate taking whatever steps it can to reduce the possibility of a provocative North Korean act, … we had a good back and forth on that subject,” he said, adding that Taiwan and other issues were also discussed.

Biden lands on Friday in South Korea with Yoon Suk-yeol as his new President. North Korea remains at the top.

Kim Jong Un is North Korea’s leader and has reaffirmed the ban on intercontinental ballistic rocket testing. He appears to be ready to restart nuclear bomb testing, possibly while Biden visits.
