Rudy Giuliani, then-President Donald Trump’s lawyer, discussed for hours the House investigation into the Jan. 6, 2021 Insurrection at Capitol.

The interview with Giuliani was conducted virtually. It lasted most of Friday according to the source, who spoke on condition that anonymity be maintained to talk about the private meeting. A spokesperson from the committee did not respond to requests for comment.

Giuliani was originally scheduled to meet the committee in early February, but an spokesperson for the panel stated that the meeting had been rescheduled.

This former New York mayor has been seen as a crucial aide for committee. Nearly 1,000 witnesses have been interviewed, including Trump family members and advisors. In June, the panel will hold a series hearings.

Giuliani was subpoenaed by the committee in January. He and others from Trump’s legal team were trying to overturn electoral results in battleground States through lawsuits that unsupportedly claimed vast election fraud. William Barr, Trump’s attorney general, said that there weren’t widespread irregularities which could have affected President Joe Biden’s win in the election. Judges across the nation have rejected the claims.

According to the committee, it requested records and interviews with Giuliani. It also sought information on Giuliani’s reported support of Trump in order to seize voting machines.

Giuliani was also present at the protest in front of White House which took place before the January 6 rebellion.

CNN published Giuliani’s interview Friday for the first time on Friday.
