Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The index fell 0.07% at the NSE close.

They were the top performers at the session Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., which was up 4.22% (38.10 points) to close at 941.90. Meanwhile, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (NS) increased 4.10%, or 310.85 point to reach 7,897.45 Hindustan Unilever Late trade saw a 2.32% increase in Ltd. (NS) or 54.05 point to 2,380.00

These were the worst performers of the session. JSW Steel Ltd (NS), fell 13.24% to 547.55 at the closing. Tata Steel Ltd (NS) fell 12.61%, or 147.65 point to close at 1,022.95; Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. was down 9.45%, or 406.90 to 3,897.90.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which rose 4.14% to 942.05, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which was up 4.07% to settle at 7,896.20 and Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:) which gained 2.35% to close at 2,380.05.

Tata Steel Ltd.(BO:), which fell 12.53% to 1,023.60 late trade, UltraTech Cement Ltd. [BO:] which dropped 3.33% and settled at 5,919.25, and ITC Ltd. (“BO:”) which declined 1.93% each to 274.55 by the close.

The India National Stock Exchange saw falling stocks surpass advancing stock by 1153 to 699, and 57 finished unchanged. On the Bombay Stock Exchange 1928 was down and 1373 moved ahead, and 164 ended unchanged.

JSW Steel Ltd. shares (NS) dropped to 52-week lowest levels; falling 13.24% or from 83.55 up to 547.55. Tata Steel Ltd.’s shares (NS) dropped to 52-week levels; 12.61% or from 147.65 up to 1,022.95. The shares of Divi’s Laboratories Ltd. Tata Steel Ltd. (BO) shares plunged to 52-week lowest levels, losing 12.53% (1.60 to 1.023.60).

The June Gold Futures were up 0.99%, or 18.22 to $1860.32 per troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil rose 1.12%, or 1.24, to $111.52 per barrel. The August Brent oil contract rose 1.6%, or 1.28, to $111.27 per barrel.

USD/INR fell 0.36% at 77.54 while EUR/INR rose 0.63 to 82.72.

US Dollar Index Futures were down by 0.95% to 102.19
