BOSTON, (Reuters) – Index fund BlackRock and major shareholders of McDonald’s (NYSE) are supporting the company in a vote at the boardroom. This puts McDonald’s on track to defeat Carl Icahn, who wanted to replace two directors as well raising awareness on animal welfare. Sources said Wednesday.
Two people who were familiar with the vote said that BlackRock’s 4.6% share ranks the firm as the third-largest investor in McDonald’s.
