DAVOS, Switzerland (Reuters – India’s bold logos and vibrant colours signal the location of its base in Davos. The country is promoting foreign investments and pro-business initiatives.

Under an Indian @ Davos logo, the Federal Government served treats such as samosas and masala chai tea in a pavilion at the Swiss Alpine resort’s Promenade.

It is surrounded by six Indian states, each with its own lounges that are located in high-street shops.

It’s an Indian street. They should call it ‘Little India.’ It is a sign that India is open to investment,” Samir Saran from India’s Observer Research Foundation said.

Piyush Goyal, Indian Commerce Minister, told Reuters that Prime Minster Narendra Modi suggested bringing together states to show unity during the World Economic Forum gathering of political and business leaders.

Goyal explained that “investors love this type of messaging.”

India’s presence has been present at the World Economic Forum for many years, but officials and participants from Asia’s third-largest economic country said that India was never so prominent.

The government base was home to a group of 15 Indian chefs, who prepared the food along with 450 kg of local vegetables.

Nathan explained that Nathan was asked to moderate the spices so that all can enjoy it.

A few steps away, Indian technology giants Infosys can be found (NYSE:). Wipro HCL Technologies and (NYSE:] have established their bases in close proximity to the ones of Alphabet’s Google, Meta, and Intel (NASDAQ.

A state government official estimated that more than 100 Indian officials attended Davos, along with many executives from companies and startups. Goyal predicted that there would be around 200 Indian participants.

Sriram Gutta from the WEF’s India Agenda stated, “We have records numbers from India.”

‘NEW REALITY’

The Indian economic boom has been the topic of discussion by federal ministers.

Modi’s government often faces criticism from companies abroad for its protectionist policies. India, however, recently posted the highest foreign direct investment inflow ever to India, reaching $83.57billion in 2021-22.

Gutta stated that the WEF had increased their invitations for Indian countries after engaging with them on topics such as drones, agriculture, and electric cars. Gutta also said that the WEF “will continue to rise in prominence”.

Deepak Bagla (CEO of Invest India), stated that even though their political parties are different, states wanted to portray a single image and show off the respective products for their businesses.

One official stated that Karnataka had met with potential investors.

Bagla explained, “What this street truly shows is the new reality in India.”
