TotalEnergies agrees to buy 50% of U.S. renewables company Clearway -Breaking

REUTERS/Benoit Tessier/File PhotoPARIS (Reuters) – TotalEnergies, a French company, announced that it has agreed to purchase 50% of Clearway Energy Group (NYSE:) Group. Clearway Energy Group is the fifth largest renewables company in America. TotalEnergies claimed this was its biggest U.S. renewables energy acquisition.
TotalEnergies announced that the purchase would bring together Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP) and TotalEnergies. GIP will be receiving $1.6 billion cash as well as a 50% interest in TotalEnergies, minus one share of TotalEnergies’ subsidiary holding its 50.6% stake in SunPower Corporation (NASDAQ:) Corporation.
ClearWay Energy’s share price was $35.1, while SunPower and TotalEnergies’ share price was $18.
