McBath defeated Carolyn Bourdeaux in a tight contested race for one of Georgia’s few safe Democratic districts.
Bourdeaux was elected the incumbent to the 7th district, but state Republicans significantly changed the lines of the district. Bourdeaux’s was moved to McBath’s District, where McBath’s District went from safe Republican redistricting to a Democratic leaning.
McBath faces a Republican opponent at the Nov. 8 general election.
