(Reuters) – Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt signed Wednesday’s strictest abortion ban into law. It prohibits fertilization abortions and permits private citizens to sue women who assist them in terminating their pregnancies.

Oklahoma media reports that Stitt released a statement saying that “I had promised Oklahomans I would as governor sign all pieces of pro-life legislation I came across, and that I will keep that promise today,” Stitt added.
