Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The index increased 1.99% at close, and the index rose 1.61%.

These were the best performers of the session Boeing Co (NYSE): The stock rose by 4.65%, or 5.67 points, to close at 127.73. Meanwhile, Nike Inc (NYSE 🙂 increased 4.38% or 4.74 point to finish at 112.94 Home Depot Inc (NYSE 🙂 traded up 3.15%, or 9.24 points, to 302.81 late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:), which fell 1.54% or 1.44 points to trade at 92.31 at the close. Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:) declined 0.49% or 0.25 points to end at 50.99 and Johnson & Johnson (NYSE:) was down 0.09% or 0.16 points to 179.46.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Dollar Tree Inc (NASDAQ:), rose 21.87%, to 162.80. DXC Technology Co(NYSE:), was up 15.99% to settle in 34.16. Dollar General Corporation ($NYSE:) rose 13.71% to close out at 222.13.

Kraft Heinz Co (NASDAQ) was the worst performer, falling 6.10% to 38.07 in late trading. Medtronic PLC (NYSE.) lost 5.78% and settled at 99.44 Centene Corp (NYSE:), which fell 4.01% to close at 81.89

Creatd Inc (NASDAQ :), which rose 58.46% at 1.28 and Apyx Med Inc (NASDAQ 🙂 that rose 51.89% each to settle at 5.62, were the top performers on the NASDAQ composite. Scisparc Ltd (NASDAQ:), which saw a 41.10% increase to close at 3.33

Avadel Pharmaceuticals PLC, (NASDAQ:), which fell 68.34% at 1.07 in late trading, and NRX Pharmaceuticals Inc(NASDAQ:), which dropped 58.19% to settle for 0.58 OTR Acquisition Corp (NASDAQ:), which fell 36.64% to 3.39 by the end.

The New York Stock Exchange saw rising stocks surpass declining stocks by 2629. 553 was unchanged, and 94 closed unchanged. On the Nasdaq Stock Exchange 2844 rose, 1004 fell, and 182 finished unchanged.

Medtronic PLC shares fell 52 weeks to their lowest level. This was a drop of 5.78%, or 6.10 to 99.44. Avadel Pharmaceuticals PLC shares (NASDAQ:), fell to their 5-year lowest point, losing 68.34% (2.31 to 1.07). NRX Pharmaceuticals Inc. shares (NASDAQ:) plunged to new lows, falling by 58.19% (0.80 to 0.58). OTR Acquisition Corp’s shares (NASDAQ:), fell 36.64% to 1.96 to 3.39.

The June Gold Futures were up 0.8%, or 3.40 to $1.849.70 per troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil rose 3.65% or 3.70 in July to $114.03 per barrel. The August Brent oil contract increased 2.78%, or 3.09, to $114.21 per barrel.

EUR/USD was stable at 1.07 and USD/JPY was down 0.2% to 127.06.
