Canada reports 10 new cases of monkeypox, including the first in Ontario -Breaking
(Reuters) – The Public Health Agency of Canada confirmed 10 additional cases of monkeypox. This includes the first in Ontario.
Quebec’s 25 reported cases have risen nine times since Wednesday according to the agency. The agency said more cases could be confirmed after “multiple jurisdictions’ samples have been tested.
Canada reported its two first cases of monkeypox this week.
Monkeypox can be described as a milder form of human smallpox. It is an uncommon viral infection that has been first reported in the Democratic Republic of Congo, in the 1970s. Over the last ten years, West Africa has seen an increase in cases.
According to the World Health Organization, there have been about 200 monkeypox cases in countries that are not affected by it.
