(Reuters) – Chinese automaker FAW Group may acquire a substantial stake in ride-hailing company Didi Global Inc. Bloomberg News, citing reliable sources, reported Friday.

The state-owned FAW Group has reached out to Didi’s top executives and expressed its interest in becoming a major shareholder in the firm, the report https://bloom.bg/38n7Gtm said.

Didi shares that are U.S. listed were about 6% higher at $1.96 in the early hours of premarket.

After Didi’s shareholders had approved their U.S. stock listing plan earlier this week, the report was published.

Didi has not yet responded to a Reuters inquiry for comment.
