UVALDE Texas (Reuters) – Pastor Julian Moreno, who has been preaching at Primera Iglesia Baptist in Uvalde for over 50 years, spoke about his great-granddaughter. She was one of the 19 children killed inside Robb Elementary school.
Alexandria Aniyah Rubio (10 years old), also known as Lexi, said that she “is now at a place without pain, tears, or night and no death.” “She’s with Jesus right now and isn’t aware of any pain she has left.”
Moreno said to Reuters that after Thursday’s service the pain will linger within the 16,000-strong community, located about 80 miles (130km) west San Antonio.
This community will overcome everything. It will not be easy. Support is essential. We’ll recover our strength, mainly with the support of churches,” Moreno stated. The church where he had raised three generations of his children was peaceful and serene.
Moreno had invited a dozen Baptist leaders from all over the country to attend the event. These leaders pledged their support for the community of Texas’ poorest.
An online directory of help-seeking organizations was created by churches. To help people who were affected by the shooting, Uvalde’s fairgrounds was designated as an assistance center.
Uvalde Justice of Peace Eulalio Diz stated to Reuters that they live in a small community where the initial diagnosis of a mental illness is made when the person arrives at the prison. They are either self-medicating or have been caught using drugs.
The latest available data from each state on resources such as these is available in 2020 Department of Health and Human Services reports that Texas boasted 363 mental healthcare treatment facilities. This was for an estimated population of 29 million. With a population around 21,000,000, Florida had 494 facilities.
