Reckitt Benckiser Group (OTC) in the U.K. is working on a multibillion-dollar sale for its infant formula business. The Wall Street Journal reports Friday that Reckitt Benckiser Group (OTC), citing sources familiar with the matter, has made progress. This company produces the Enfamil infant formula.

First-round bids kicked off this week, and bidders included private equity firm Clayton Dubilier & Rice.

Reports cited bankers as stating that Reckitt Benckiser might sell the unit and make it worth $7 billion.

It comes at a time when the infant-formula market is being rocked due to shortages which have spread across the U.S. Exacerbated by a Sturgis plant shut down by Abbott (NYSE:), amid fears of contamination.
