(Reuters) – U.S. According to two sources, Senator Joe Manchin (West Virginia) has indicated support for climate provisions. These include a lower-than-usual methane tax and carbon border taxes in a more slimmed down Build Back Better bill.

Sources indicated that Democrats expect to reach an agreement on long-stalled legislation before the end of June, and then shift to their campaigning in advance of the November midterm elections for control.

Manchin spokesperson Sam Runyon did not confirm the reporting, but said: “Senator Manchin is always willing to engage in discussions about the best way to move our country forward.”
