Investing.com – U.S. stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the , and sectors led shares higher.

The close at NYSE saw the index rise 1.76% and the index gain 2.47%. And the index increased 3.33%.

Apple Inc (NASDAQ 🙂 rose 4.08%, or 5.86 points, to trade at 149.64 by the closing. Meanwhile, Boeing Co (NYSE) added 3.52% or 4.50 to finish at 132.23. Disney In late trade, Company (NYSE 🙂 rose 3.51% to 109.32.

They were also the session’s worst performers Coca-Cola Co (NYSE:) traded at 64.68 after the close by rising 0.59%, or 0.38 point. Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:) added 0.80% or 0.41 points to end at 51.40 and Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) was up 0.83% or 0.77 points to 93.08.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Ulta Beauty Inc (NASDAQ:) which rose 12.47% to 425.08, Autodesk Inc (NASDAQ:), which rose 10.31% to settle in at 211.38 Moderna Inc (NASDAQ) gained 8.73% and closed at 147.66

Bristol-Myers Squibb Company was the worst performer (NYSE :), down 1.87% at 76.14 in trade late, CF Industries Holdings Inc was at 95.72 (NYSE :), down 1.02% and Philip Morris International Inc at 106.97.

Avadel Pharmaceuticals PLC rose 133.64% at 2.50. Oncternal Therapeutics Inc was up 88.08% and settled at 1.54. SIGA Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:), which saw a 41.91% increase to end at 13.68

Performance Shipping Inc (NASDAQ) was the worst performer, falling 63.56% to 0.66 late trade. Iovance Biotherapeutics Inc(NASDAQ:), which fell 53.57% to settle for 7.02, and Iovance Biotherapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ) were also poor performers. SpringWorks Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 40.45% to 18.36 by the end.

The New York Stock Exchange saw rising stocks surpass declining stocks by 2756 to 435 while 74 ended the same. On the Nasdaq Stock Exchange 3074 rose, 694 fell, while 169 ended the same.

Performance Shipping Inc’s shares (NASDAQ:), fell to 5 year lows, dropping 63.56% or 1.16 up to 0.66. Iovance Biotherapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:), shares fell to their 3-year lows. They lost 53.57%, or 8.10 to 7.02. SIGA Technologies Inc. (NASDAQ:), shares rose to 5 year highs. They increased 41.91%, or 4.04 to 14.68. SpringWorks Therapeutics Inc. (NASDAQ:), shares fell to 52 week lows, losing 40.45%.

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 6.47% to 25.72.

The June Gold Futures were up 0.2% or 3.77 points to $1851.37 per troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which rose 1.03 or 0.90% to reach $115.12/barrel in July, and August Brent oil, which rose 1.37 or 1.20% to trade at $115.54/barrel.

EUR/USD was steady at 1.07 despite a 0.05% increase in USD/USD, and USD/JPY dropped 0.02% from 127.11.
