U.S. agency asks Tesla for information on Canadian fire incident -Breaking

WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NASDAQ:) Inc said that it had asked Tesla (NASDAQ;) Inc Thursday for details about a 2021 Tesla Model Y fire which occurred in Vancouver, British Columbia. A driver claimed to have been unable to get out.

Reuters reported that the NHTSA informed Reuters it was aware of the incident. They have reached out and asked the manufacturer for details.

Electrek shared a video that shows the incident. In it, the driver said he was given an error message and then saw smoke. He said that he needed to smash the window in order to get out. … Because everything was stopped, I kicked out the window. The power didn’t work. The door didn’t open. The windows did not go down.”

Tesla didn’t immediately reply to our request for comment.
