(Reuters) – On Memorial Day Weekend, five people died when two boats carrying recreational equipment collided in a river in Georgia. One of the boat drivers was also arrested on suspicion of being drunk.

Georgia’s Department of Natural Resources stated that two people died in the accident on Saturday morning. It said that four passengers sustained injuries and were taken to the hospital. Three others were reported missing.

The department stated that the victims were recovered by U.S. Coast Guard divers from Georgia on Sunday. They were found near Savannah at the bottom of Wilmington River.

Mark Christopher Stegall of Savannah (45 years old) was “arrested for boating while under the influence” according to a department statement. The department stated that it is investigating the circumstances of Stegall’s crash.
