ISTANBUL, (Reuters) – The Turkish Finance Minister Nureddin Nebati stated Monday that preliminary economic indicators showed that the economy grew by 7% in the first quarter. He also reiterated his belief in temporary inflation.

Nebati, in a speech at the bank’s association meeting, also stated that the banking sector was resilient to shocks.

He said that the government would keep trying to reduce inflation’s “inertia”. Inflation reached 70% in April, and is expected to remain at this level through the end of the year.
