GAVIAO PEIXOTO, Brazil (Reuters) – Brazil’s Embraer SA (NYSE:) is still working with a figure of 22 orders from the Brazilian Air Force for the KC-390 aircraft, its head of Defense & Security said on Tuesday, after the country signaled it wanted to cut the orders to 15.

Jackson Schneider stated that while the Air Force wanted to decrease orders, the company had been informed by the Air Force but was still sticking to the figure that was previously agreed upon.

After the Air Force had in November stated that it would unilaterally reduce its 28-aircraft order from 29 to 15, then in February, Embraer reached an agreement for 22 aircraft.

The Brazilian Air Force has a contract to purchase 22 of our aircraft. There were 28 aircraft, but the Brazilian Air Force reduced the number. They had the right. Schneider stated, “We follow the rules.”

He said, “Today we had a 22-aircraft order and we aren’t doing any movements that could result in any loss for the company or the shareholders.”
