(Reuters.) – American companies manufacturing baby formula have started importing their products after the United States’ health regulator allowed them to relax their import policy in order to resolve a shortage that had been partly caused by a lack of supply. Abbott Laboratories Michigan’s manufacturing plant recalls some products at (NYSE:) in February
Neocate producer Danone SA (OTC) are some of the importers, while Fonterra and a2 Milk from New Zealand have filed applications with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to supply baby formula to America.
The FDA signs off on the arrival of the product in the country. Manufacturers then distribute it through their supply chain and address unfulfilled orders. A spokesperson for U.S. Department of Health and Human Services explained that the FDA has signed off the FDA.
