LONDON, (Reuters) – Major Credit Suisse shareholder Harris Associates believes there is no need to increase equity capital for the Swiss bank. This was after Reuters reported that the bank was considering options to strengthen its balance sheet.

David Herro from Harris Associates stated to Reuters that, “Given today’s strength in their balance sheet,” he agreed with Harris Associates’ statement that no equity raise was necessary.

Harris Associates holds a stake of around 5.2%, according to the bank’s https://www.credit-suisse.com/about-us/en/investor-relations/shareholders/significant-shareholders.html website, making it the biggest shareholder.
