“The Infinite Machine,” a Movie About Ethereum and Vitalik Buterin, Will Be Part of the Metaverse

An ongoing full-feature movie project, “The Infinite Machine,” aims to reproduce the story behind the world’s second-largest digital asset, , and its creators. Versus Entertainment announced recently that Decentraland & Lumiere will host the movie in metaverse, making it the first NFT-financed film.

In April this year, the creative team announced that the movie would be produced by Oscar-nominated director Ridley Scott, who is world-renowned for overseeing such classic titles as “Blade Runner” and “Gladiator“.

A crypto drama

“The Infinite Machine” is a movie adapted from financial journalist and cryptocurrency expert Camilla Russo’s book. In the fast-paced read, the author details the wild and often hapless adventures of a team of “hippy-anarchists”, reluctantly led by an ambivalent visionary, to make a super-charged, global network.

“The Infinite Machine” tells the story of Vitalik Buterin, the controversial co-founder of Ethereum, who, as a supremely gifted nineteen-year-old, convinced a crack group of coders to join him in his quest. The platform was first conceptualized in 2013 by Buterin. It went live in 2015, with eight other co-founders including Charles Hoskinson and Gavin Wood, who went on to create and.

The storyline explores the brilliant innovation and reckless greed unlocked and unleashed by the platform, and the consequences surrounding the frenzy as it grew—the increased regulatory scrutiny, incipient Wall Street interest, and the founding team’s effort to scale the Ethereum platform enough to allow it to eventually become accessible to the masses.

Shyam madiraju along with Ridley Scott, Tom Moran and Vera Meyer from Scott Free will direct and produce the film. Alejandro Miranda and Versus Entertainment are also producing. The project roadmap states that a script should be completed by Q3 of this year.

“It’s incredibly exciting to have Ridley Scott and the crew at Scott Free produce the movie of “The Infinite Machine” alongside us. I can’t imagine a better team to turn the riveting story about the people behind the most revolutionary technology since the internet into a feature film that will capture the hearts of our generation,” enthused Russo.

NFT collection to fund the movie

As the NFT Collection is sold, the movie’s producers will finance much of its production. This makes it the first movie that has been fully funded by NFT. This collection is an exploration of Ethereum logos and was created by 36 artists from Cuba and other countries, including Australia, Chile, Colombia and Honduras. It is also the result of collaboration efforts between Peru, Spain and Mexico.

Each artist designed a piece to represent their vision for Ethereum and the decentralization values. The ETH logo was then divided into 4 quadrants and programmematically combined to create 10,499 unique mosaics. These reflect the collective visions of emerging artists.

“The Infinite Machine” NFT collection has a sales goal to not only fund the filming of the movie, but also to use Ethereum’s underlying technology to boost artists in emerging nations whose voices could benefit from amplification in the NFT space. NFT holders can receive movie-related perks as a result of their NFTs. Future airdrops will also be available.

“The main goal of this NFT collection is to help fund The Infinite Machine movie together with the Ethereum community, and we have taken the first step towards that, but this project is also about supporting artists who live in oppressive regimes and can benefit from decentralization the most, and I’m extremely proud this initial sale is already making a big impact on their lives,” commented Russo.

It was an enormous success. In fact, it sold out the first edition in just 28 hours. This raised $670K. Third round was similar in success. The collection raised 412.75 Ethereum, and 39.54% of it was sold. It is anticipated that the project will conduct its third round in NFT issues within the coming months.
