(Reuters) – Australia has been in discussions with the United States about infant formula supply, an Australian spokesperson stated on Wednesday. This was after the U.S. top health regulator eased its import policies to alleviate a national shortage of baby foods.

In an email statement, a spokesperson from Australia’s Department of Agriculture, Water and the Environment stated that “The Australian Government will continue to collaborate with the Biden Administration in order to confirm regulatory arrangements and facilite exports of infant formula.”

Reuters reports that several New Zealand and Australian dairy companies applied to U.S. Food and Drug Administration earlier in the week to provide infant formula.
