French economic growth figures to be revised

PARIS (Reuters) – France’s figures for economic growth will be revised by June/early July, according to Bruno Le Maire, the French Finance Minister. However, he stated that he does not think France is at imminent economic crisis.

Le Maire, in an interview with France Inter Radio, did not provide any additional details regarding the revised figures of French economic growth.

This week’s data showed France’s economy contracted unexpectedly during the first quarter, as people struggled with rising inflation. In May, French inflation rose more than expected to 5.8 percent. This is a new record for the 12-month period.

The euro area saw inflation accelerate to 8.1% in May, from 7.4% in April.
