(Reuters) – Apple Inc (NASDAQ) announced Monday significant improvements to CarPlay, at its Worldwide Developers Conference event. The company plans to transform CarPlay from an information system into a software platform that allows drivers to manage their cars and display more information like speed and fuel levels.

Apple’s iPhone maker stated that it was in talks with many automakers to introduce the next generation of software to their cars. It will announce the announcement by the end 2023.

This is what Apple has in mind for CarPlay.

Multiple SCREENS SUPPORT

CarPlay supports multiple screens, regardless of their size or layout. It can display information such as weather conditions and navigation based on images uploaded during presentations.

The iPhone’s widgets will work across every screen in the vehicle, including the instrument cluster. There are many styles and layouts of the dials, themes, colors, and other options.

AUTOMAKERS SUPPORT NEXT GEN CARPLAY

Apple offered a list of companies that would endorse the program. Among them are Ford Motor (NYSE) Co., Renault SA(OTC:), Mercedes Benz and Volvo.

IPHONE INTERGRATION

The next version of CarPlay will allow drivers to adjust their car’s temperature, access apps like Audiobooks, News and Podcasts, as well as tune the radio via the CarPlay interface.

An iPhone communicates with your vehicle’s system in real-time in a privacy-friendly manner. This allows you to see driving information like speed, fuel level, temperature.
