Yuga Labs (creators of Bored Ape Yacht Club, (BAYC NFT) collection), has been compromised via Discord. This led to theft of NFTs in excess of 200 ETH.

Yuga Labs’ Discord Breached

The official Yuga Labs discord server was compromised on Saturday, June 4, leading to the theft and transfer of NFTs in excess of 200 ETH. Yuga Labs later confirmed the network breach that was reported first by Twitter user NFTherder (NYSE:).

According to the report, the breach started after the Discord account of Yuga Labs’ Community Manager Boris Vagner was compromised. The thieves used the permissions of Vagner’s account to gain access to the broader Yuga Labs Discord Server and commit nefarious acts.

Through Vagner’s account, the assailant posted a message in the official Discord channels of the Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFT collection and its metaverse project, the Otherside, promising an exclusive giveaway for BAYC, MAYC, and Otherdeed NFT holders who followed the link provided. The link provided was fake and phishing, so those who clicked it were immediately robbed of their NFTs.

More than 200 ETH stolen from NFTs

Confirming the incident, Yuga Labs revealed that the NFTs stolen through the phishing attack were worth approximately 200 ETH, or $361,000 USD by the day’s prices.

NFTherder estimates that approximately 145ETH (or $260,000 USD) disappeared with the NFTs. He was however able to track the assets back to four separate wallets.
