Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

NSE closed with the index losing 1.02% and the NSE fell 0.92%.

Oil And Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (NS:) was the best performer of the session, rising 5.13% or 7.90 point to close at 161.85. Meanwhile, NTPC Ltd (NS) was up 1.48%, or 2.30 points, to reach 157.50 Coal India In late trade, Ltd (NSS:) rose 1.39% to 197.55 or 2.70 point.

Titan Company Ltd. (NS) fell 4.45%, or 97.75 Points to trade at 2,100.80 by the close. UPL Ltd (NS:) declined 4.21% or 32.80 points to end at 746.20 and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (NS:) was down 3.76% or 161.80 points to 4,143.95.

The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were NTPC Ltd (BO:) which rose 1.35% to 157.25, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. (BO:) which was up 1.30% to settle at 7,811.25 and Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (BO:) which gained 0.50% to close at 1,041.60.

The worst performers were Titan Company Ltd (BO:) which was down 4.48% to 2,100.70 in late trade, Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd (BO:) which lost 3.87% to settle at 4,142.15 and Larsen & Toubro Ltd (BO:) which was down 3.00% to 1,589.40 at the close.

On the India National Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those that advanced by 1195, 628, and 51 respectively. The Bombay Stock Exchange saw 1920 fall and 1263 advance, and 120 remain unchanged.

The implied volatility index of the Nifty 50 options was up by 1.10% to 20,42.

For August delivery, Gold Futures rose 0.45% to $1852.00 per troy an ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which fell 0.09 percent to reach $118.41/barrel in July. The August Brent oil contract dropped 0.17 percent or 0.20, trading at $119.31/barrel.

USD/INR decreased 0.09% to 77.577 while EUR/INR fell 0.17 to 83.5.

US Dollar Index Futures were up 0.9% to 102.64
