Meta Set to Cut Ties to Facebook Ticker, as Zuckerberg Goes Full Tilt Into Metaverse -Breaking

Meta, formerly Facebook (NASDAQ:), will soon be moving to align its stock ticker with the new corporate name.
The company has announced that its Class A stock will trade on NASDAQ starting Thursday, June 9th, 2022 under the ticker symbol META’. In October 2021, the company announced that it would change its name from Facebook to Meta. Since its IPO, 2012, FB was the stock ticker.
Name and ticker changes coincide also with another major change last week. COO Sheryl Sandberg will be stepping down after fourteen years of service to the company.
Global Equities Research analyst Trip Chowdhry described the Sandberg news as the “end to adult supervision”, and stated that shares were an “aggressive purchase” because of it. According to him, Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of META, is now “energized” by the news. This will be achieved through intensive innovation on the metaverse’s message-first platform, AI and machine learning, as well as ad tech.
