WASHINGTON (Reuters] – On Wednesday, President Joe Biden called Juan Guaido, Venezuelan opposition leader. He expressed support from the United States for resuming negotiations between President Nicolas Maduro and the opposition.

Biden spoke from Air Force One, en route to the Summit of the Americas at Los Angeles. He reiterated that Washington will “calibrate sanctions policies” against Venezuela in line with the outcomes of the Venezuela negotiations. Maduro has yet to agree to a date for the resumption of negotiations, despite being excluded from the summit.
