© Reuters. In an open letter, Human Rights leaders demand responsible crypto policy- 21 advocates for human rights wrote a letter to Congress asking them to pass responsible BTC legislation.
- This letter was partially a reply to an anti-crypto email sent recently to Congress.
- The open letter can be signed by supporters until June 14th.
A group of human rights advocates from around the world wrote an open letter to the US Congress in support of a “responsible crypto policy” citing the power they wield in countries where “local currencies are collapsing.”
This reply was to the anticrypto letter that Congress received last week. The letter was supposedly from an 1500-strong scientific community, which included software engineers and computer scientists. This letter had 25 signatures, including prominent crypto critics and writers from democratically developed countries.
Today, human rights leaders from 20 countries told Congress how bitcoin & stablecoins aid in the struggle for global freedom.
Some of the world’s most respected activists signed the letter. Their stories are worth sharing. (1/6)https://t.co/TBHmFsm0xW

The letter stated, “We write to urge an open-minded, empathetic approach toward monetary tools that are increasingly playing a role in the lives of people facing political repression and economic hardship.”
This letter also explained the following:
While we aren’t professional lobbyists nor financiers, our mission is to help people who may be at greatest risk.
The group also praised Bitcoin and Stablecoins for their essential role in promoting democracy and freedom in the lives of tens to millions more people who live under dictatorships and in volatile economic environments.
These humanitarian think leaders, such as Alex Gladstein (chief strategy officer at the Human Rights Foundation); Lyudmyla Kuzlovska of the Open Dialogue Foundation Ukraine and Meron Estefanos of the Eritrean Institute on Refugee Rights among others, called for Congress to examine the evidence in numerous academic articles that cite the appeal of BTC/Stablecoins.
All 21 signatories urged global citizens and human rights advocates to vote in support of a responsible policy on crypto, especially if they were able to benefit from this technology. You can support the initiative by signing up for the requisition through June 14, 2022.
