(Reuters) – Retail giant Walmart Inc (NYSE:) Wednesday announced that it is expanding its transportation pilots with companies of electric, natural gas, and hydrogen-powered vehicles. Cummins Inc (NYSE:) Daimler, (OTC:), Truck’s Freightliner

This partnership, along with previously announced transport tie-ups is part of Walmart’s 2020 goal to eliminate all emissions from its worldwide operations. It includes its approximately 10,000 tractor fleet and its 80,000 trailer fleet.

To reduce carbon emissions, a larger number have been looking to enter the commercial EV sector. Fernando Cortes from Walmart, the U.S. senior Vice President, warned that Walmart was still in its early stages.

Cortes explained that the technology is still being tested. We know there is no single solution to help us decarbonize our fleet. And that doesn’t mean that any one solution will work for us.

Walmart announced that they will be receiving a number of Cummins new 15-liter engines from Cummins in early 2013. These engine units are expected to be built into their trucks.

Walmart claimed it signed an agreement Chevron Corp (NYSE: ) supplies compressed natural gas.

Walmart stated it will also run a pilot powered by batteries this summer, using Freightliner and Nikola Corp heavy-duty trucks.

It also plans to test hydrogen-fuel-cell-powered yard trucks by Texas-based Capacity.

Jan., General Motors (NYSE) announced the reservation of 5,000 electric delivery vehicles with BrightDrop, a commercial EV company.

Walmart Canada stated that it has placed 130 reservations for Tesla Semi Trucks (NASDAQ:) Inc in 2020, however the EV industry leader is yet to begin manufacturing these Semi.

Cortes stated that Walmart U.S. wanted to know which solution worked well for its fleet. He stated that while we have the option of purchasing Tesla’s Semi-trucks, “we have not shared any public commitments.”
