GasBuddy reports that the average gallon in America has reached $5.

Following a rise in prices for gas over the previous month, officials and consumers were both surprised. Prices have risen rapidly due to the Russian invasion in Ukraine and a boom in travel.

As a result of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, millions of barrels have been removed from the oil market.

AAA data shows that today’s average national gas price is $4.97. California has the highest at $6.40 per gallon.

GasBuddy stated that Chicago is just 3 cents from becoming the first non-California municipality to achieve a $6/gal average earlier today.

U.S. President Joe Biden is under fire for how he handled the price hikes and the recovery. He also faced criticism about his management and supply of oil in the United States and the decision to stop the Keystone XL Pipeline.
