Investing.com — U.K. Prime Minister Boris Johnson will attempt to convince the British public that he is “on their side” in a speech on Thursday, according to a Downing Street statement.

Johnson will present a number of new measures in his address to the English county Lancashire. This is as Johnson, the leader of the party struggling with corruption and disillusionment, looks for a way forward after the speech he gave earlier this week.

The President will unveil policy to reverse falling home ownership rates. This includes plans to increase access to mortgage financing, extend the right of purchase to housing association tenants, and to make it easier for them to own their homes.

Johnson also promises to implement reforms that will boost productivity growth.

We have a clear strategy as we deal with both the Covid aftermathshocks and inflationary impacts of the war in Ukraine. We will continue to use our fiscal firepower to help the country through tough times – and concentrating our help where we should, on those who need it most,” Johnson is due to say.

This speech follows recent economic projections that warned about a slowing U.K. economy in 2022. British Chamber of Commerce cut its annual forecast of GDP growth down to 3.5%. Meanwhile, the Organization of Economic Co-operation and Development stated that this year’s economic activity “is expected to slow”.
