WASHINGTON (Reuters), Donald Trump’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, told a congressional panel that she doesn’t believe Trump’s lies that his defeat in 2020 was due to widespread voter fraud.
Ivanka Trump is one of Donald Trump’s closest friends during her four years as White House secretary.
“I respect Attorney General William Barr. Ivanka Trump said that he had spoken and I understood.
Ivanka said that Barr claimed that the Justice Department did not find any significant fraud that would support Trump’s assertion – which he still makes – that voter fraud in key states had caused him to lose the 2020 election.
Barr was seen before the panel of investigators by the committee. Barr refers to his fraud claims against his boss as “bullshit”.
In convincing Republican voters, the ex-president has had more success. A Reuters/Ipsos Poll completed Wednesday showed that 58% Republicans believed the 2020 election was the result fraud.
Jared Kushner (another former President’s top aide) was also shown as a witness. The president’s son in law mentioned the word “whining” to refer to Trump aides who threatened to quit following the attack on Jan. 6.
Soon after Trump’s incendiary speech, Trump addressed thousands of supporters outside of the White House. He reiterated his false claims that the 2020 election was stolen and encouraged them to march on Washington and fight like hell.
