Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

The index fell 2.73% at the close of NYSE. It lost 2.91% and declined 3.52%.

Walmart Inc (NYSE 🙂 was the best performer of the session, rising 0.56% (0.68 points) to close at 121.70. Meanwhile, Verizon Communications Inc (NYSE:) fell 0.24% or 0.12 points to end at 50.82 and Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE:) was down 0.38% or 0.54 points to 141.95 in late trade.

Dow Inc (NYSE) was the worst performer of the session, falling 6.06% (3.99 points), to close at 61.87. Goldman Sachs Group Inc (NYSE: ) fell 5.65%, or 17.20 points, to finish at 287.02 Boeing Co (NYSE:) fell 5.03%, or 6.73 points, to 127.00

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Newmont Goldcorp Corp (NYSE:) which rose 3.52% to 66.85, Cardinal Health Inc (NYSE 🙂 was 2.12% higher to settle at 53.46 Hershey Co (NYSE:), which gained 1.86% and closed at 213.35.

Caesars Entertainment Corporation, (NASDAQ:), was the worst performer. It fell 9.29% and closed at 45.50 in trade late. Illumina Inc (NASDAQ;) lost 9.03% and settled at 204.19. Etsy Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 8.70% to 75.84 by the end.

These were the top performers in the NASDAQ Composite RISE Education Cayman Ltd (NASDAQ:), which rose 138.46% up to 3.41 Singing Machine Company Inc (NASDAQ :), which rose 60.38% to settle in 6.72, and Cogent Biosciences Inc [NASDAQ :] which gained 58.67% until it closed at 7.87.

These were the worst performers ABVC Biopharma Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 48.57% to 0.90 during late trade Fulcrum Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 39.18% and settled at 4.92 Axcella Health Inc (NASDAQ:), which fell 27.01% to 2.00 at the closing

The New York Stock Exchange saw falling stocks surpass advancing by 2656 to 492; 73 was unchanged. On the Nasdaq Stock Exchange the numbers were 3055 and 790 respectively. While 141 ended the day unchanged, the Nasdaq Stock Exchange had 355 and 790, which fell, and 143 advanced.

Illumina Inc shares (NASDAQ:), fell 9.03% to their 3-year lows. This is a drop of 20.28 to 209.19. Goldman Sachs Group Inc’s shares (NYSE:), fell 5.65% to 52 week lows, or 17.20 to 287.02. Shares of ABVC Biopharma Inc. (NASDAQ:), fell to their lowest levels in over a year, losing 48.57% (0.85 to 0.90). Fulcrum Therapeutics Inc. shares (NASDAQ) plunged to 52 week lows, down 39.18% (3.17 to 4.92).

For August delivery, Gold Futures rose 1.23% to $1.875.60/troy ounce. Other commodities traded included Crude oil, which fell 0.95 percent to $120.56 a bar in July. The August Brent oil contract dropped 0.93%, or 1.14, to $121.93 per barrel.

EUR/USD fell 0.91% at 1.05 while USD/JPY increased 0.09% at 134.45.
