(Reuters) – Russian authorities decide on how to use Renault (PA:). Moscow’s plant will close by next week. This was after Moscow-based carmaker Ford announced that it would suspend operations.

Renault, Russia’s biggest automaker, stated Wednesday that the company had stopped all production and was looking at its options for its remaining stake in Avtovaz. Russia’s No. Following Russia’s invasion in Ukraine, Renault is the No. 1 automaker.

After suggestions by the Kremlin that assets belonging to foreign firms could be nationalized, the government has made statements about the future status of the factory.

“The Ministry of Industry and Trade and Moscow will be discussing the possibilities of developing the Renault Russia manufacturing plant. According to the ministry, the solutions will be made public by the middle of next week.”

Renault owns the Moscow plant that produces the Renault Duster (OTC-: Terrano) models.

Minister of Industry and Trade maintains constant contact with Avtovaz and Renault Group management, the ministry announced in a statement.

Renault could not be reached immediately for comment.

Renault-controlled Avtovaz which produces Renault cars, partly halted production this week at Togliatti’s plants. This was due to a shortage of electronic parts.

According to the Russian ministry of industry, everything was being done in order to resume operation at Avtovaz’s assembly lines. This includes creating components stock.

Since Russia invaded Ukraine, Feb. 24, more than 400 companies have fled Russia. Moscow called it a “special military operation”, and left behind billions in assets.

Renault, as well as other Western corporations such the food giants Nestle and Danone were criticised for their presence in Nigeria.
