ANKARA (Reuters). Despite the fact that Kyiv was in an agreement with Moscow on technical aspects of peace talks, Turkish President Tayyip Turkey said that they were still at odds about territorial matters like Crimea.

Erdogan spoke to journalists in Brussels after a NATO summit and said that the NATO resolutions should not be seen as a threat against Russia or any other third-country, but should be considered deterrence.

NATO member Turkey shares an important border with Russia and Ukraine in the Black Sea. It has strong ties and offered mediation. Erdogan stated that Turkey was primarily trying to reach an agreement between the Russian and Ukrainian presidents through mediation.

Erdogan stated that he has told his allies to end embargoes against Turkey’s defense sector. This was after Turkey purchased Russian S-400 defense systems.
