Germany is preparing for a Russian supply disruption and has given an “early warning” to warn that it might soon find itself in a crisis of natural gas.
Kremlin repeatedly requested that “unfriendly” countries use rubles to pay for gas. This has stoked fears about a deeper energy crisis in Europe. This demand was rejected by the G-7 (which induces Germany).
Robert Habeck, German Economy Minister, stated Wednesday that the initial “early warning” stage was only one of three and did not imply any state intervention in rationing gas supply.
Habeck, however, urged consumers and businesses to cut down on consumption. He said at a press conference, “every kilowatt hours counts”, according to Reuters.
