Google to set up first Africa product development centre in Nairobi -Breaking

It said this is to position itself for a growing number of african internet users.
The continent will have 800 million internet users by the end this decade, according to a California-based company. It is also home to a third world youth population. Making it an attractive destination for investment.
Google will hire engineers, product managers and user experience designers to fill the centre’s new positions, according to Suzanne Frey (Vice President for Products) and Nitin Gajia (Head of Google Africa), in a blog post.
Sundar Pichai (CEO) of the company announced last October that they will be investing $1Billion in projects throughout Africa over five-years to assist economies with their digital transformation.
The company has opened an artificial intelligence center in Accra (Ghana), focusing on innovative solutions to diverse challenges.
Microsoft (NASDAQ: ) has been also investing in technology development centers in Kenya and Nigeria. It invested $100 million and hired hundreds of engineers from both countries.
