WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen & European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde voiced their disappointment at the participation in person of a high-ranking Russian official during Wednesday’s G20 finance meeting officials. A source said to Reuters.
Yellen stated that she did not approve of Russia’s presence in the meeting. Lagarde, meanwhile, urged Timur Maksimov (Deputy Finance Minister) to send a clear message to Russian leaders – to stop the conflict in Ukraine.
Another source verified Maksimov’s physical presence. Russia should be expelled from the Group of 20 large economies, as requested by the United States.
