WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Wednesday announced that its “zero tolerance” policy for dealing with unruly passengers would be permanent after a court canceled transportation mask requirements.

Steve Dickson was the FAA administrator at that time. He first issued this policy in January 2021. However, Dickson later stated that it would not be extended beyond an existing order mandating masks aboard airplanes. The 14-month-old transport mask policy was struck down by a federal judge Monday.
