In a 52–43 vote on the Senate floor on Tuesday, U.S. lawmakers ConfirmedBrainard served as vice chair of Federal Reserve and was a Federal Reserve Vice Chair for the past four years. She could serve a term beyond what she had been serving as Governor in January 2026. Brainard was among four nominations that were awaiting approval by Republican senators in the Senate Banking Committee. Banned the February committee, which would have sent the prospective Fed vice chair’s nomination to the full Senate.
