AMSTERDAM (Reuters), – Dutch airline KLM has cancelled dozens more flights between Amsterdam and its home country to make it easier for employees, ANP news agency reported.

KLM Schiphol Airport Ground Staff went on strike unannounced last Saturday to demand higher pay and better working conditions. It caused chaos, delays and cancellations at Europe’s third busiest airport.

A spokesperson for Air France KLM, the Dutch airline division said that ANP flights are being cancelled preemptively in an effort to alleviate pressure on its employees.

KLM couldn’t be reached immediately for comment.

Schiphol requested airlines that they consider cancelling flights on Thursday because it was concerned about its terminals becoming overcrowded again in the coming weekend.

ANP stated that KLM would decide later Friday on the request.
