Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close at NYSE the index was down 2.77%, hitting a new 1-month high, while it fell 3.63% and dropped 4.17%.

Honeywell International Inc. (NASDAQ:) was the best performer of the session. It rose by 1.89%, or 3.59 points, to close at 193.51. Meanwhile, Merck & Company Inc (NYSE:) added 0.12% or 0.11 points to end at 88.69 and Caterpillar Inc (NYSE 🙂 fell 0.89%, or 1.90 points, to 210.54 during late trading.

Intel Corporation (NASDAQ.:) fell 6.94%, or 3.25 points, to trade at 43.59 by the closing. Salesforce.com Inc (NYSE.) fell 5.28%, or 9.80 point to close at 175.94. Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc was down 4.78% (or 2.13 points) to 42.40.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Mohawk Industries Inc (NYSE:), which rose 7.86%, to 141.06 Celanese Corporation (NYSE:), which rose 2.81% to settle in at 146.94, and Honeywell International Inc. (NASDAQ:), which gained 1.89% until it closed at 193.51.

VeriSign Inc.(NASDAQ:), down 14.26%, 178.69 and Amazon.com Inc. (1NASDAQ:), both of which were down 14.05% in late trading to settle at 2,485.63 respectively. Cincinnati Financial Corporation (NASDAQ.) fell 9.81% to close at 122.66.

These were the top performers in the NASDAQ Composite GTY Technology Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: ) which went up 115.19% to 6.09 Vaxxinity Inc (NASDAQ 🙂 rose 84.22% to close at 6.95. Redbox Entertainment Inc (NASDAQ 🙂 gained 69.41%, closing at 5.98.

The worst performers were Accolade Inc (NASDAQ:) which was down 49.73% to 5.56 in late trade, Genocea Biosciences Inc (NASDAQ:) which lost 30.55% to settle at 0.28 and Missfresh Ltd ADR (NASDAQ:) which was down 27.74% to 0.52 at the close.

On the New York Stock Exchange, falling stocks outnumbered those that advanced by 2629, 552 and 105 respectively. Likewise, on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange 2861 fell while 984 advanced. 210 was unchanged.

VeriSign Inc’s shares fell by 14.26% (29.73) to 178.69 in 52 weeks. Amazon.com Inc shares (NASDAQ:), fell 14.05% to 52 week lows, falling 406.30 to 2485.63. The shares of Intel Corporation (NASDAQ) dropped to 52-week levels; falling 6.94%, or 3.25 to 42.59. Walgreens Boots Alliance Inc (NASDAQ) shares fell to 52 week lows, down 4.78% (2.13 to 42.40). Shares in Accolade Inc (NASDAQ:) fell to all time lows; falling 49.73% or 5.50 to 5.56. Genocea Biosciences Inc shares (NASDAQ:), fell to their lowest point, losing 30.55% (0.12 to 0.28). Missfresh Ltd (NASDAQ:), shares dropped to their lowest level, dropping 27.74% (0.20 to 0.52).

The , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 11.37% to 33.40.

The June delivery of Gold Futures was higher by 0.29%, or 5.54 to $1.896.84 per troy ounce. In commodities trading, crude oil fell 0.80%, or 0.84, to $104.52 per barrel. The July Brent oil contract dropped 0.33%, or 0.35, to trade at $106.91 per barrel.

EUR/USD rose 0.54% to 1.06 while USD/JPY dropped 0.75% at 129.88.

At 103.17, the US Dollar Index Futures fell 0.47%.
