Pfizer’s vaccines head Kathrin Jansen to retire this year -Breaking

© Reuters. (Reuters) – Pfizer Kathrin Jansen (NYSE:), Inc’s chief vaccines officer, was responsible for the U.S. drugmaker’s COVID-19 shot development. She will be retiring later in the year.
In a LinkedIn announcement, Chief Scientific Officer Mikael Didlsten stated that Kathrin’s legendary determination, scientific insight, and expertise in vaccine development have ushered the world in to the beginning of hope in the midst of the pandemic.
In collaboration with BioNTech in Germany, Pfizer created the 2-dose shot. This vaccine was made available to the United States in an emergency in 2020.
Jansen became the senior vice-president of vaccine development and research in 2015. He was previously the chief scientific officer of drugmaker’s vaccine research & early development unit.
Prior to joining Wyeth as a vaccine researcher, she was also the head of vaccine research at Wyeth Health Care Products Maker Wyeth. Wyeth was bought by Pfizer more than ten years ago.
