WASHINGTON, (Reuters) – The U.S. Senate Budget Committee (NASDAQ:) will host a hearing on Thursday about Amazon.com Inc. (NASDAQ.). As the chair of the committee, the White House is urging it to terminate its federal government contracts regarding its labor practices.
Senator Bernie Sanders announced that Christian Smalls will be the president of Amazon Labor Union and International Brotherhood of Teamsters general President Sean O’Brien, as well as Greg LeRoy (executive Director of Good Jobs First) to the panel.
Sanders called President Joe Biden last week to sign an executive order severing federal contracts with Amazon. Sanders also invited Jeff Bezos, Amazon’s executive chairman to give evidence on Thursday.
