BTC PEERS reports that Coinbase has announced its NFT Marketplace is live in beta. This marketplace can be accessed by select beta testers, who previously signed up to its October waitlist. Since the beginning of April, users from this group have been able buy and sell NFTs. Now, anyone can access the platform.
“[W]What does open beta mean? It means we’re still working on adding more features to the product, but eager for you to help us build in public,” the company tweeted Wednesday afternoon.
Worth noting is that Coinbase NFT was launched beta, but it received low patronage. This likely fueled Coinbase NFT’s decision to expand its reach to an even wider audience.
Coinbase also shared their plans for the marketplace via a blog post posted two weeks ago.
In the coming weeks and months, we’ll add more features that will gradually bring our vision for a web3 social marketplace to life. We’re planning to add drops, minting, token-gated communities, and the option to buy NFTs with your Coinbase account or a credit card. We’ll also add support for NFTs on multiple chains. We plan to add more decentralized features over time by shifting them from Coinbase tech into decentralized solutions.
Coinbase NFT also offers community engagement functionality. Users will have the ability to communicate with creators and other members of a specific NFT community.
